Construction Birthday cake

I found this blog about making a caution tape stripped cake. Yeah mine didnt turn out as good.
I filled the 9" pan more than you would usually. The little bit of leftover I put in the other pan and cooked for use later.
Don't use super moist cake mix. It will fall apart.
After making the first 2 cuts the second ring fell apart.
It had nothing supportinging it underneath and nothing holding it together in the middle. So it went flat.
I was able to put my layers together wrap them and put them in the freezer. When I took the out I had ones side that would not stay up. I decided to just glue it with some frosting.
Then I remembered the directions I found called for cutting some of the cake out and flipping it to make a hole for the excavator. Well I guess that worked out.
It frosted so nicely.
I used those extra leftover cakes to make a mound for some more construction equipment.
I took the cream out of some Oreos and crushed the cookies for dirt on top of the frosting.
Leaving a 2 shape with out "dirt" I put a bulldozer at the top of it and lined it with rocks.
Chocolate rocks! I get these from the bulk section at Winco. The other blog said you can get them here.
Seahawks anyone :) yeah haters gonna hate.
We picked out all the blue and green rocks I added some frosting to the back of the dump truck so they would stick in there.
The steam roller is positioned to look like it is driving around the outside of the cake.
Now how did my inside look? Ok it turned out!
