Baby Wipes updated.
Yes I have been posting about this a lot but I have finally got it down and love the wipes.
I no longer cut the rolls in half at this point
My grandpa was trying to be helpful and help cut so I ended up with jagged edges. It has been recommended that you use an electric knife. (i didnt)

Fold like an accordion. |
Leave the towels attached, Fold each towel in half and at the perforation like an accordion until you have enough to fill the wipe container. (about half the roll)
Update: I leave the roll intact, fold it like an accordion until it is tall enough to fill the container, I then use scissors and cut through the middle about a half inch at a time. That makes enough for 2 containers, what is left makes enough for 1 more container when you stack the 2 sides together.
Put the folded towels in the container. Add 1 teaspoon baby oil to 1 cup water. Stir. Pour over wipes in the container. Let stand for at least a half hour.
They work great and my baby girl is now rash free :)

Pinterest Reveiw Cardigan Conversion
Just a quick post there will be more on this soon.
I found this on Pinterest Cardigan Conversion. I had been wanting some new cardigans. Why not make some sweaters into cardigans, I really do not wear the sweaters and they are too small as my tummy is growing anyway . These directions are so simple and easy to follow. I should have taken a before picture but I forgot (I will with the sweater I am going to work on today). This ribbed shirt (it is not really a sweater) was not flattering and I love it now! A fat quarter of fabric that you can get for $1 was just the perfect length for this shirt. I have not put buttons on it yet (it needs some) I need to go raid Ty's Grandma's button collection :)

Baby Wipes
I posted on my family blog about making baby wipes... (look for the follow up at the bottom)
I
knew I was running low on wipes so of course Sunday evening comes and I
ran out. I was thinking about a "Thrifty Recipe" I had read in The Duggars 20 and Counting for baby wipes. I looked it up in the book here is a summary of the recipe.
1 roll Bounty paper towels cut in half
1-gallon ice cream bucket
2 cups of water
2 tablespoons baby oil
1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol
1 tablespoon baby bubble bath (optional)
mix
liquid in large measuring pitcher, put paper towels in bucket, pour
liquid over the top. Let set for 30 minutes. Remove cardboard center.
Put lid on and cut on X in the lid to pull wipes through.
So
I didnt have an ice cream bucket, I didnt want to use alcohol on miss A
sensitive skin, and I wanted to make a smaller batch just to try it
out. I took a bunch of towels off the roll ( they were smaller half
sheet kind and brawny was the brand I had) I cut them in half then
folded them in half and stacked them with a half flap of one going into
the mouth of the fold on the next one like this... then they would
easily come out of the dispenser.
I put them into a 64 wipe dispenser. I made a mixture of 1 cup water 1 teaspoon baby oil and 1 teaspoon head to toe baby bath soap. I poured it over the top let it set for a while and was good to go. I have used them 4 times now and they work great. I do not think I will be going back.
A roll of paper towels is less than $2 right? and the mount of oil and soup is so small it hardly counts. So for less than $2 you get 280 wipes! I did a little more math. You can get a 6 roll pack for $11 (1700 wipes) Huggies natural wipes cost $12 for a box of 448 wipes). Guess what that is $0.006 vs $0.02 per wipe.
Follow Up: I love these wipes they work great! I tried the ice cream container. The 2ply towels came apart and Allyson had lots of fun taking all the wipes out of the container when she got a hold of it. Although it is easier than folding the wipes I did not like it. So I am still folding the wipes and putting them in the wipe container. I am going to try just baby oil and water next time just in case the soap is part of whatever is irritating her skin. So that is a quick little update.

chicken pot pie pockets
So the hot pockets turned out great right out of the oven and I had one for lunch today that had been in the freezer over night, it warmed up just fine in the microwave.
Today I think I will make chicken pot pie pockets using the same dough. The filling is really simple. cooked cubed chicken, frozen veggies, a can of cream of chicken soup. You could even make it simpler by using canned chicken.

PIzza
We love pizza. I have been using this simple no yeast recipe to make it at home. (cheaper and healthier)
Mix dry ingredients. add 3/4 cup water and oil. Stir until it forms a ball. If dough is stiff, add more water. The dough will be soft, not sticky. Knead on a floured surface for 3-4 minutes.
Bake at 400°F for 15-25 minutes.
We also love quick warm up snack. When you by them at the store they are filled with preservatives and other not so great stuff. Today Ty had me pick up some hot pockets for am extra snack at work. I was thinking I can make these at home... I looked at a few blogs where other people have done it! I'm not sure if my recipe is freezer friendly but I am going to find out tomorrow.
2 1/2 c. flour
2 3/4 tsp. baking powder (if using baking soda use half and omit salt)
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. oil
3/4 to 1 c. water
